8 Week Advanced Beginner Wheel: Lidded Forms
With Resident Artist Lila Roehr
This course is a deep dive on all things lidded: jars and teapots and casserole dishes, oh my! We’ll explore some of the many ways to make two parts fit snugly as one — demystifying internal galleries, external galleries, and closed forms. Don’t be daunted by measurement or calculation, if you can throw a basic cylinder, you can make a lidded form!

8 Week Mixed Level Wheel: Developing Surface
With Laura De Anda-Hall
Advance your wheel throwing process while developing an artistic vision through motif, pattern, and ornamentation. We will focus on the cylinder as it is transformed into fully thought-out cups, mugs, and vases. Mini lessons on surface design techniques (inlay, slip trailing, transfer, and carving) along with handle and attachment demonstrations.

8 Week Intermediate Wheel: Making Connections
With James Alby
Ceramic artist James Alby will guide you through the process of joining wheel-thrown sections in this 8 week course. James will teach you how to spiral wedge, throw more clay with control, successfully join and troubleshoot sections, and more! This course is great for anyone with wheel-throwing experience looking to go bigger, learn new techniques, and get out of their comfort zone.

8 Week Advanced Beginner Wheel: Handbuilding for wheel Throwers
With Sara Hensel
This quirky continuing wheel course is designed to broaden your approach to the potter’s wheel by treating the wheel as a tool for generating components and forms out of round. Students can expect foundational demonstrations (i.e. cylinders, bowls, plates, and closed forms) to be supplemented with options for alterations such as ovaling, squaring, paddling, dimpling, stretching, darting, stamping, and faceting. In pursuit of more articulate, dynamic forms, we will break down mugs, vases, pitchers, bowls, platters, jars, juicers, colanders, and more!

This Mortal Coil: Funerary Objects for the Intermediate Handbuilder
With Sara Hensel
Let’s talk about death and make pots. Packed with ideas, demos, discussion, and lots of work time, this course is loaded with concepts and challenges for any handbuilder with the basics already under their belt.
Students can expect urns, vases, small figurines, and slab-built coffins to be on the agenda. We will take a field trip to Pioneer Cemetery, learn about sprig mold design and use, and do lots of sketching and maquettes. Be sure to pack your pencil and sketch book to document your ideas, and be open to class discussion.
